Sweet Sound of Progress

I did something today I've never been able to do before. The first lesson paid off! It seems you have to let your shoulder limp, almost dead and let the fingers do all the movement. And I was able to do that today. It felt like my fingers existed separate from me, and I only had indirect control over them, like operating a machine.

A lot of things automatically became easier. For example, I could play the Sweet Child O' Mine intro with very few left hand mistakes. All melodies, even chords became so much simpler to finger. And yeah, I think it has a lot to do with paying attention. That's also helped me get better with the Stairway To Heaven intro, which I'd become very bad at...

So now I know that my plan works. One lesson at a time. Next thing I'm going to attack is my right hand technique by paying attention there.

Lessons

When you come to something new, place it on a solid foundation that's beneath you.
When you learn this new thing, learn it for what it looks like, for what it is and what it can do for you. A lesson is something which you learn, not something you know of.
When you have perfected this new skill, you can contemplate learning new ones. You don't have the choice of tackling then next problem before you are done with the one at hand.

The Tower of Babel didn't work.

Lesson 1: Pay attention

Yeah, Next Level

I've procrastinated long enough. I'm going to be bringing more discipline in my practice. Weekends for jamming, and weekdays only practice. I want to be good.
